Glossopdale Harriers

30th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: Glossopdale Harriers was formed in 1982, and this year we will be marking the clubs 30th anniversary with a do on the evening of Saturday 30th June at Glossop Golf Club, with a run/race earlier in the day. All current and old Glossopdale Harriers welcome. More details to follow.

Glossopdale Harriers is a well established and friendly athletics club based in the old market town of Glossop in the High Peak District of North West Derbyshire.

Glossop is surrounded by hills and in the summer (and winter) months most of us like to concentrate our efforts on getting up onto the edges and high moors of Bleaklow, Shelf Moor, Kinder, Glossop Low and the Nab to name a few. We fully appreciate that fell running is not everyone's idea of good fun and many of the club also take part in road running and cross-country.

As an athletics club we stage two local races: the Herod Farm race and the Shelf Moor race. The Shelf Moor race was a counter in the Fell Running English Championships in 2010. This is our way of putting back something into the sport in return for all the pleasure we get out of it.

Alternatively just come along to one of club training runs at 7pm every Tuesday or Thursday evening. See the calendar for details.

For club members, we use a club forum and yahoo email group to pass on information about club runs, info on races and arrangments for away weekends. Follow the links on the right to either the forum or the yahoo group to see how to sign up. At present, almost all of the activity happens on the Yahoo forum.
